Puppy Chow

Okay the holiday blogging break is officially over! While off work, in Missouri, and completely out of my routine for the last two weeks, I've been slacking off quite a bit.

So now on to today's snack: Puppy Chow! I thought this treat was well-known around the globe, but it turns out I may be wrong. So if you've never had it, listen up.

Puppy Chow is super easy to make, has just the right amount of sweet, and is perfect for any season. And to boot, it's not actually dog food.

Here's how you make it:

9 cups Rice Chex or Crispix cereal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar

In a large pot (big enough to hold all the Chex/Crispix), melt the chocolate chips over low heat.

Add the peanut butter, stirring until smooth.

Remove from heat, and gently stir in the cereal until completely coated.

Put half the powdered sugar in a zip-lock bag. Then add the chocolate/cereal/PB mix and then the rest of the powdered sugar.

Seal and mix up until the powdered sugar coats everything.

Pour into a bowl. If you compulsively use sprinkles on everything, go wild. Can't hurt.

I made this as a New Year's Eve treat and it was well-received. At least, I ate a bunch. And continue to.

Special guest: Nate's homemade Chex Mix.

We also had about 4 gallons of this stuff on NYE. Maybe I'll get him to do a guest post with the recipe some day.

What snacks/apps did everyone else have on New Year's?
